Liesje Schreinemacher

Liesje Schreinemacher is Deputy Secretary-General of the Benelux Union, a position she has held since January 2026. Before taking up this role, she served as the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation in Mark Rutte’s fourth cabinet from 2022 to 2024.
Prior to joining the Dutch government, Liesje was a Member of the European Parliament for the VVD and part of the Renew Europe group. In the European Parliament, she served on the Committee on International Trade, the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection, and the Committee on Legal Affairs. She was also a member of the delegations for relations with the United States and the United Kingdom.
Before her political career at the European and national level, Liesje worked as a lawyer and political advisor. She has been actively involved within the VVD for many years and has extensive experience in coaching and developing political talent.
For VVD International, Liesje provides trainings on political leadership, international cooperation, public service and building a successful career in politics.
