Projects and Events

The Liberal Partnership Days are an annual conference organised by the European Liberal Forum and hosted by VVD International. The event brings together liberal politicians, policy experts, political foundations, and partner organisations from across Europe, the MENA region, and beyond to discuss key political challenges and strengthen international cooperation.

The conference serves as a platform to:

• Exchange ideas on the most pressing political issues.
• Connect liberal partners from political parties, think tanks, foundations, and civil society.
• Share best practices in liberal policymaking, democratic resilience, and political leadership.
• Strengthen international cooperation within the broader liberal family through networking and joint initiatives.

Each edition focuses on a contemporary theme. Recent topics have included:

• Global Politics, Security and Geopolitics (2024), with sessions on the aftermath of the U.S. elections, democracy in the Middle East, liberal narratives, and LGBTQ+ rights.
• Security and Resilient Democracy (2025), covering resilience, EU enlargement, post-conflict democracy building, and cybersecurity.
• Economic Competitiveness and AI (2026), featuring discussions on implementing the Draghi report, artificial intelligence, and innovation alongside the VVD Spring Congress.

Unlike a training academy, the Liberal Partnership Days are primarily a high-level policy and networking conference, combining keynote speeches, panel discussions, interactive working groups, and networking events. They are designed to foster collaboration among liberal organisations and generate practical ideas for strengthening liberal democracy across Europe and beyond.

VVD International annually participates in and supports the RenewPAC Summit, a high-level political conference of the Renew Europe political family that brings together liberal and democratic leaders from Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. The summit serves as a unique platform for strengthening political cooperation, exchanging best practices, and addressing shared global challenges through a liberal perspective.

Each edition focuses on key issues shaping intercontinental cooperation, such as democratic governance, economic development, security, climate resilience, youth engagement, and political leadership. Through panel discussions, policy dialogues, networking sessions, and bilateral meetings, participants build lasting partnerships and develop practical solutions to challenges facing both Europe and the Global South.

By contributing to the RenewPAC Summit, VVD International reinforces its commitment to international liberal cooperation and helps strengthen the global network of liberal parties dedicated to democracy, freedom, and the rule of law.

VVD International proudly supports the annual Al Hurriya Liberal Network (AHLN) General Assembly, bringing together liberal political parties and partner organisations from across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). As the highest decision-making body of the network, the General Assembly provides a platform for members to strengthen cooperation, define the strategic direction of the network, and reinforce their shared commitment to freedom, democracy, the rule of law, and human rights.

Alongside the formal assembly, the programme features political discussions, capacity-building workshops, and networking opportunities that enable members to exchange experiences, address regional challenges, and develop joint initiatives. The event also serves as an important opportunity to strengthen ties between the MENA liberal family and international liberal partners, fostering collaboration and the exchange of best practices across borders.

By supporting the AHLN General Assembly, VVD International contributes to a stronger and more connected liberal movement in the MENA region, helping liberal parties and organisations build the partnerships and capacities needed to promote democratic values and resilient political institutions.

Each year, VVD International organises a study visit to the Netherlands for Ze! Women, the women’s wing of Ukraine’s Servant of the People party. The programme is designed to strengthen women’s political leadership by facilitating the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices between Dutch and Ukrainian women in politics.

During the study visit, participants meet with politicians, policymakers, civil servants, and civil society organisations to discuss topics such as women’s political participation, leadership, local governance, and campaigning. The programme combines high-level meetings with practical workshops and visits to Dutch political institutions, offering participants valuable insights into the Dutch democratic system and the role of women in liberal politics.

By supporting this annual initiative, VVD International contributes to empowering the next generation of Ukrainian women leaders while strengthening the partnership between the VVD and Servant of the People. The study visit provides a platform for mutual learning, professional development, and lasting international cooperation between women committed to advancing democracy and equal opportunities.

VVD International annually partners with ShezoMedia, to develop engaging video content that makes democracy more accessible to young audiences across the MENA region. Through a series of short videos, interviews, and digital campaigns, the project explains how democratic institutions function while presenting practical, liberal solutions to everyday political, economic, and social challenges.

The collaboration focuses on translating complex political topics into accessible and engaging content. Themes include the rule of law, democratic participation, accountability, individual freedoms, economic opportunity, and the role of political parties in representative democracy. By combining creative storytelling with evidence-based policy discussions, the project encourages informed public debate and promotes a deeper understanding of liberal democratic values.

Building on ShezoMedia’s extensive experience in producing educational and social impact media, the annual partnership also supports local content creators and strengthens independent media as a platform for civic engagement. Together, VVD International and ShezoMedia aim to empower youth to engage with politics critically, understand democratic institutions, and explore constructive, liberal approaches to the issues that affect their daily lives.
