The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) Party brings together liberal and democratic political parties from across Europe. It works to promote liberal values, strengthen European cooperation, and develop common policies on issues such as democracy, the rule of law, economic freedom, and human rights. As a member of the ALDE Party, the VVD actively contributes to shaping the liberal agenda at the European level.

The European Liberal Forum (ELF) is the official political foundation of the European liberal family. It promotes liberal ideas through policy research, political education, conferences, publications, and training programmes, bringing together liberal think tanks, foundations, and political parties from across Europe. VVD International works closely with ELF to strengthen liberal leadership, foster international cooperation, and advance democratic values.

Liberal International (LI) is the worldwide federation of liberal political parties, bringing together members from over 100 countries to promote freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. Founded in 1947, Liberal International fosters international dialogue, supports democratic development, and strengthens cooperation between liberal parties and organisations across the globe. As an active member, the VVD, through VVD International, contributes to LI’s mission through political education, capacity-building programmes, and international partnerships.

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) is one of the world’s leading liberal political foundations, dedicated to promoting freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. Through political education, policy dialogue, and international cooperation, FNF strengthens liberal values and supports democratic development across more than 60 countries.

VVD International works closely with several FNF regional offices, including Europe, Central Europe, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and Southern Africa. Together, we organise leadership programmes, conferences, study visits, and capacity-building initiatives that strengthen liberal political parties, empower future leaders, and foster international cooperation across regions.

Renew Europe is the VVD’s liberal political group in the European Parliament, bringing together Members of the European Parliament and political parties committed to building a free, democratic, and prosperous Europe. The group champions policies that promote individual freedom, the rule of law, innovation, sustainability, and a strong and united European Union.

VVD International works closely with Renew Europe on international conferences, political dialogues, and capacity-building initiatives, fostering cooperation between liberal partners across Europe and beyond. Through this partnership, we contribute to strengthening liberal leadership, democratic resilience, and international collaboration on shared European and global challenges.

The Liberal South East European Network (LIBSEEN) is a regional network that brings together liberal political parties from South East Europe to strengthen cooperation, promote democratic values, and support the development of liberal politics across the region. Through political dialogue, leadership development, and the exchange of best practices, LIBSEEN fosters collaboration between liberal parties facing shared political challenges.

VVD International is a longstanding partner of LIBSEEN and works closely with the network on training programmes, conferences, and capacity-building initiatives. Together, we support liberal leaders and political parties in strengthening democratic institutions, good governance, and regional cooperation throughout South East Europe.

The Al Hurriya Liberal Network (AHLN) is the regional network of liberal political parties and organisations from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The network promotes freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law by strengthening cooperation among liberal actors and supporting democratic development throughout the region.

VVD International is a founding and strategic partner of AHLN, working closely with the network on leadership development, political education, capacity-building, and regional dialogue. Together, we organise training programmes, conferences, study visits, and the annual General Assembly, helping liberal leaders and parties build stronger organisations and expand international cooperation across the MENA region.

The European Liberal Youth (LYMEC) is the umbrella organisation for liberal youth movements and political youth organisations across Europe. As the youth organisation of the European liberal family, LYMEC empowers young liberals through political education, advocacy, international cooperation, and leadership development, while giving young people a strong voice in European politics.

VVD International works closely with LYMEC on youth leadership programmes, international exchanges, and capacity-building initiatives. Together, we support the next generation of liberal leaders by creating opportunities for learning, networking, and active participation in shaping the future of liberal democracy in Europe.

The International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY) is the global umbrella organisation for liberal youth and student movements, representing member organisations from more than 80 countries. IFLRY promotes freedom, democracy, human rights, and active youth participation by empowering young leaders through political education, advocacy, and international cooperation.

VVD International works closely with IFLRY on international training programmes and democracy initiatives, including projects on digital resilience, political leadership, and countering disinformation. Together, we equip young liberal leaders with the knowledge, skills, and international networks needed to strengthen democracy and advance liberal values around the world.

The Rainbow Platform is proud to partner with VVD International in advancing democracy, human rights, and inclusive governance around the world. Through this collaboration, we work together to strengthen the participation and representation of LGBTIQ+ communities in political and public life.

By combining VVD International’s expertise in democratic development with the Rainbow Platform’s commitment to equality and inclusion, the partnership promotes dialogue, supports local organizations, and helps create political environments where everyone can participate without fear of discrimination.

The International Network of Liberal Women (INLW) is a global network dedicated to advancing women’s political leadership, gender equality, and liberal democratic values. By connecting women leaders, politicians, and activists from across the world, INLW promotes equal participation in decision-making, strengthens leadership skills, and advocates for policies that empower women and girls.

VVD International is proud to partner with INLW in promoting inclusive democracy and strengthening the role of women in politics. Together, we support initiatives that foster leadership, encourage international cooperation, and help create political systems where women have equal opportunities to participate, influence, and lead.

The Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) works to promote peaceful, just, and inclusive democracies by strengthening political systems, fostering dialogue, and supporting democratic institutions around the world. Through its work with political parties, civil society, and democratic actors, NIMD helps create the conditions for inclusive political participation and accountable governance. The VVD is a founding member of NIMD and has a seat in the Advisory Board.

Together, we support initiatives that strengthen political dialogue, promote democratic values, and contribute to building open and representative societies where all citizens can participate meaningfully in public life.

International Educational Centre (IEC) is a civil society organisation that works to advance the political education of Croatian citizens and develop a tolerant and democratic political culture in Croatian society. The IEC adheres to universal values such as personal liberty, equality, economic freedom and individualism, which we consider to be the cornerstones of Western civilisation. Due to its liberal background, much of the IEC’s activity is more specifically aimed at strengthening liberalism in Croatian society and politics.
