Hayke Veldman

VVD member, trained as a historian, who sat in the House of Representatives between 2014 and 2021. For some time he was a policy officer at various municipalities, including the city’s Eindhoven and Arnhem, and started in his own consultancy firm in 2010. In addition, he was party leader of the VVD in the city council of Nijmegen. As a member of the House of Representatives, he was involved in various matters, such as the Environment Act, Economical affairs and Health Care, but was mainly known as a ‘corona spokesperson’ for his group in the period 2020-2021.

From February 2019 to March 2021, he was also chairman of the European Affairs Committee, as a result of which he was closely involved in the (then) upcoming Brexit and the consequences for the Netherlands. On March 30, 2021 he said goodbye to the House of Representatives. On his retirement he was appointed Knight in the Order of Orange Nassau. Now he works in the consultancy sector, is member of the Dutch Advisory Board on Regulatory Burden, Chair Court of Audit Tilburg and President of the Royal Dutch Swimming Federation.
