Liberal International Democratic Training Academy

The Liberal International Democratic Training Academy (LIDTA) is a premier political training programme jointly organised by Liberal International and VVD International. It is designed for young, politically engaged individuals from the MENA region, with a proven commitment to liberal values, democracy, and human rights.

The Academy offers a modular course delivered across several weekends, combining digital and in-person sessions. Selected participants will benefit from an intensive curriculum focused on personal leadership development, political skills training, and exposure to modern liberal campaigning and governance strategies.

Expert trainers, drawn from the ranks of VVD – one of the world’s most successful liberal political parties – along with globally recognised professionals, will guide participants throughout the programme.

Module I introduces participants to the core principles of liberalism while laying the groundwork for their personal leadership journey.

Key components:

• Liberalism in Theory: Explore the history, values, and principles of liberal democracy.
• Liberalism in Practice: Learn how liberal values translate into political leadership, policymaking, and governance.
• Personality and Behavioral Assessment: Gain insights into your personality, leadership style, communication preferences, and how you lead as a liberal.
• Practical Assignment: Create the foundation of your personal leadership story, connecting your experiences, liberal values, and political ambitions into a compelling narrative. This assignment continues throughout Modules 2 and 3, applying the knowledge and skills gained during the Academy.

Module II builds practical leadership and communication skills, equipping participants with the tools to lead, influence, and inspire in political environments.

• Debate & Public Speaking: Strengthen your ability to present ideas confidently, respond under pressure, and engage in persuasive political debate.
• Negotiation & Advocacy: Develop practical negotiation techniques and learn how to build consensus, navigate political dynamics, and influence decision-making. Understand how to advocate effectively, engage stakeholders, and shape policy through strategic lobbying and coalition-building.
• Practical Assignment: Refine your personal story as a liberal leader, transforming your experiences and values into an authentic and compelling narrative.

Module III prepares participants for the realities of political leadership, helping them define their role, navigate challenges, and take the next step in their liberal career.

• Liberal Careers: Explore the realities of political life and the diverse pathways to leadership within liberal politics and public service. Answer the question: Why you? Reflect on your unique strengths, values, and leadership potential, and define what you bring to the table as a liberal leader.
• Crisis Simulation: Put your leadership, communication, and decision-making skills to the test in a realistic political crisis scenario.
• Practical Assignment: Finalise and present your personal leadership story, integrating the knowledge, skills, and experiences gained throughout the Academy.
