Liberal International Congress

The 65th Congress of Liberal International (LI) will take place from 2 to 6 November 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, and Taipei, Taiwan, bringing together liberal political parties, leaders, policymakers, and partner organisations from across the world.

Hosted by Liberal International member parties The Democratic Party of Thailand and the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) of Taiwan, the Congress will be held under the theme “Building Resilient Democracies for a Secure Future.” Participants will discuss the challenges facing liberal democracies in an increasingly complex geopolitical environment, with a particular focus on democratic resilience, human rights, international cooperation, and global security.

As Liberal International’s highest decision-making body, the Congress provides a platform for member parties and organisations to exchange ideas, debate policy proposals, adopt resolutions, and strengthen cooperation across the global liberal movement. The event will bring together liberal leaders from different regions to share experiences and develop common responses to contemporary political challenges.

The programme will begin in Bangkok before continuing in Taipei, reflecting Liberal International’s commitment to engaging with liberal partners around the world and highlighting the importance of supporting democratic societies in the Asia-Pacific region.
