The weekend marked the conclusion of the 2025-2026 programme and brought together participants from across the MENA region. In addition, alumni from previous cohorts joined the event for a dedicated advanced training programme.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The final module, <em>From Potential to Political Leadership<\/em>, focused on helping participants prepare for the realities of political leadership. Over the course of the weekend, participants reflected on their personal strengths, values and ambitions. They explored different pathways into political leadership and discussed how they can contribute to liberal and democratic development in their communities.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>The highlight of the weekend was a training session by <strong>Honourable Solly Tshepiso Msimanga<\/strong> on how to build your political brand. Drawing on his extensive political experience, he shared practical insights on leadership, communication and authenticity in politics. The session encouraged participants to reflect on how they present themselves as political leaders and how they can effectively communicate their values and vision to the public.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another highlight was a political crisis simulation. Participants were challenged to respond to fast-moving political developments while working under pressure and facing difficult decisions. The exercise allowed them to put their leadership, communication and strategic thinking skills into practice in a realistic setting.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The programme concluded with personal leadership reflections. Participants shared the experiences and lessons that have shaped them throughout the Academy and explained how these have influenced their vision for political leadership. The presentations reflected both the diversity of the group and a shared commitment to liberal values and democratic progress.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Alongside the graduating cohort, nine alumni from five previous LIDTA cohorts took part in an advanced alumni programme. The sessions focused on leadership development, exchanging experiences and strengthening ties within the growing LIDTA network. Bringing current participants and alumni together created valuable opportunities for learning, cooperation and mentorship.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The weekend was a great success and demonstrated the strength of the LIDTA community. With the graduation of the 2025-2026 cohort, another group of young liberal leaders joins a growing network of changemakers across the MENA region. VVD International is proud to contribute to the development of future liberal leaders and would like to thank all participants, trainers and partners who helped make the weekend such a success.
